Norco, CA (February 5, 2009); Well after a successful display at the Houston Astrodome, the AHRMA team headed back to California for round 5 of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Series in San Francisco. The AT&T Park again hosted this venue and the crowds were record breaking. This event started out just as all the others, only Saturday morning came with a big shock. As we came out of the trailer and began to set up, we realize that one of our race bikes was missing. Actually, it was my race bike and I stood there in complete disbelief... Who could have done such a thing and more importantly "Why did this happen?". Well it didn't take long to take action and as the San Francisco Police Dept. was dispatched, it was Officer Hart (badge # 1271) and his nights in shining armor to the rescue. A report was taken and, thanks to modern technology, Rian Tipton from Feld, Inc. was able to help me get a photo of my bike out to the police officers and the units out in the City. Not more than 1 hour later, the San Francisco Police department found my bike 3 blocks away, in an alley. I guess you will never hear me complain again about my bike being a hard starter (it's a 1974 Honda XL 350, punched out to a 412). Apparently the thieves liked the Corona graphics and thought they could take off with it during the middle of the night. What they didn't realize was that if by chance they did get it started, it would have ROCKED the entire city. My bike is loud :-) So, with that said, The Corona Kid and I would like to officially THANK Officer Hart and the San Francisco Police Department for their quick response in finding my bike. After this event, we headed out to Buckeye, Arizona for Round 1 of the AHRMA Vintage/Post-Vintage National Series (sponsored by the Legend's Group & Jakes Garage) and would have had a much harder time completing had we not had my bike ~ bless you.... Sincerely, Tami Rice |
