On January 10, Supercross arrived in Phoenix and so did 50,000 + motorcycle fans.  What a perfect opportunity for local AHRMA members and regional enthusiasts to set up a display of beautiful vintage motorcycles and talk with the crowds about the organization and the passion we all share.  There were many who stopped by the AHRMA tent and shared a story with their wife or girlfriend or kids about the bikes they had and the great memories they had of them.  CZ, Hodaka, Maico, Penton, Sachs all were favorite mentions. They took many pictures and stared sometimes in almost disbelief that these bikes are preserved and still being raced. Most had no idea there was a national club that catered to our sport of racing vintage motorcycles and wanted to know more about it and how they could get involved.

Mission accomplished for the team of people supporting this event. Spreading the word about AHRMA was a success and something we all need to continue to do.  It was very clear from this event there are many closet vintage racers in waiting.  We just need to let them know that it’s easy to get involved, accessible, national, and fun.  We are hoping that some of the people we met, along with all of you will come out for the first great event of 2009. The national season kicks off at Arizona Cycle Park (www.arizonacyclepark.com) in Buckeye Arizona and promises to be an event not to be missed.  A great vintage track, great weather and all located perfectly for out of state visitors.

We hope to see you all there to help make these national events what they are meant to be.

Message from the Southwest Regional Coordinating Staff:
Chase Field in Phoenix Arizona was a great venue.  Many people joined together to support our sport.  Thanks to all the volunteers that helped make this happen.  Without them, this venue and all of those like it wouldn't be possible.....
