Trials
Road Racing
The Grand Prix
Motorcycle by Kevin Cameron (Foreword by Kenny Roberts Sr.)

This book covers
road racing's evolution since 1949 to the present day and is
a benchmark work. It is a must acquire, and must read. It is
much more. The book explains the sport bike evolution.
Cameron takes the design eras phase by phase, each year
illustrated by an individual race bike. He covers every
significant engineering advance and its immediate and
long-term relevance, explaining not just what happened but
what it meant then and what it means today.
Kenny Roberts Sr.'s foreword is great. As he puts it:
"Racing isn't a fairytale with a happy ending--it's a stream
of problems, half-answers, and coping with the rest."

Vintage Racing on a 1926 Indian Scout
Butch Baer has published another book,
following his and Tom Baer's "A Century of Motorcycling".
This book, however, chronicles Butch's vintage racing days
with his Scout as the center of his adventures. We are
invited to see all the details from the machine shop to
Butch's retirement race at Daytona in 1997, a cross country
trip on the scout, and a few other vintage gatherings. Good
stuff.
The Baers have been Indian dealers and
riders all their lives and kept enough pictures to remind us
of AHRMA's earlier venues. Butch always has time to talk,
and if his Scout isn't the main character then Butch is, and
if he isn't his red shirt is. Just like his Dad's red hat.
Buy a book from him. His company-ACOM
Publishing, PO Box 115, Monson, MA. 01057, 413 267-4999,
www.acenturyof motorcycling.com-has several other vintage
titles and literature reprints. When they say "from the Baer
family library"....they mean it.
